Taurus G2c Overview

Taurus G2c

Despite having a large collection of high-end handguns, such as Glocks, M&Ps, the G2c has always been one of my faves. This gun is far more versatile than you might think. This double-stack pistol can hold 12+1 9mm rounds, is light, and has a few other features that you will appreciate.

And if you’re looking for a low-cost backup weapon, the G2c is here to stay. Because of its small size, this gun is excellent for concealed carry while remaining large enough for home defense.

Features include a reversible magazine catch, adjustable rear sights, and a Picatinny rail. The G2c also employs standard three-dot sights that are simple to align and target. The recoil impulse is minimal and softer than you might expect, making it easy to use. Plus, the gun is just like a Glock which requires little maintenance. The reassembly takes about 30 seconds and does not require any fancy acrobatics.

I also like how you can make this gun into whatever you want it to be. You can get aftermarket sights and other parts without spending lots of money.

Why Upgrade Your Taurus G2c Trigger?

The amount of trigger pull makes a difference in your overall shooting experience. When upgrading the trigger you can get the lighter or heavier pull you like, and that matches your skill level.

The G2c pistol’s trigger weighs about six pounds, which is comparable to most CCW guns. It also has restrike capabilities. It means that if the cartridge does not fire the first time, the gun will be able to fire again.

When you pull the trigger on the G2c pistol, expect a springy feel. The trigger pull-on is very long, and the reset is very short. It’s a double-action, single-action wreak capable strike trigger that works. Great if you like this, but for me, the G2c trigger leaves a lot to be desired.

Fortunately, a Taurus G2c trigger upgrade isn’t going to break a bank. Replacement triggers will set you back for around $35 or less. So let’s take a look at the best Taurus G2c trigger upgrades out there.

The Best Taurus G2c Trigger Upgrade

1. Keep Tinkering SAO Short Stroke Trigger

Material: The trigger is made of nylon polymer, which is a similar material to the G2c’s original trigger. This trigger is strong and long-lasting, comparable to aluminum. As a result, you can be confident that the trigger will withstand heavy use.

Performance: With a simple trigger upgrade from Keep Tinkering, the G2c transforms into a fantastic performer. The SAO Short Stroke Trigger fits the Taurus PT111/140, G2, G2C, and G2S. This trigger disables double-action capabilities as well as trigger safety. Plus, the trigger upgrade causes the trigger to break at around 3.5 pounds, give or take, and although it lacks crispness, it pulls very seamlessly once the minimal slack is taken up. As expected, the reset is pleasant. Keep Tinkering also carries Springs. It has SA/DA Short Stroke Triggers in a curve, standard, and skeletal shapes.

What we say: Keep Tinkering SAO Short Stroke Trigger is an excellent semi-custom trigger. Comes in at $30, it’s durable and improves your trigger experience.

Pros
  • Durable construction
  • Taurus PT111/140, G2, G2C, G2S compatible
  • Pulls very smoothly; nice reset
  • Inexpensive
Cons
  • Lacks crispness

2. Galloway Precision Asmund Short Stroke Trigger

Material: As the name implies, Asmund means “divine protection.” The Asmund Short Stroke Trigger is 3D printed from ballistic carbon fiber-filled nylon. It is as sturdy as aluminum and will outlast the pistol.

Performance: The trigger has a flat face for better finger pad positioning. Depending on the tolerances of your specific pistol, you can’t go wrong with a 20% overall decrease in pull length in single and double-action modes.

This trigger is also the only one on the market that retains all of the pistol’s built-in safety features. This trigger’s feel and function far outperform the stock trigger. And despite the fact that installation is difficult, the trigger’s reliability is exceptional. It was well worth the money and time. Additionally, the trigger improves reset, eliminates bumps, and shortens travel.

The Asmund Short Stroke trigger fits PT111 G2c,  G2c, G2s, Millennium G2, and PT111 G2 Pistols.

What we say: If you want to shoot your Taurus pistol much better than before, consider the Asmund Short Stroke Trigger which is a good buy at $25.

Pros
  • Ballistic carbon fiber-filled nylon material
  • Maintains all built-in safeties
  • Improves reset, eliminates bumps, and shortens travel
  • Inexpensive
Cons
  • Installation is a bit tricky

3. Lakeline Stainless Steel Striker Guide

Material: First, why will I add the Lakeline LLC Striker Guide to the list? Because installing it to your Taurus G2C will improve the crispness of your trigger. It will also remove the lock-out function and completely disables the Taurus Security Locking System.

Lakeline Striker Guide is either made of plastic or polished stainless steel. But we recommend using stainless steel, as it resulted in a more consistent, low-friction trigger pull.

Performance: LLC striker guides have a cutout that allows rendering the pistol non-functional until it is unlocked. In addition, the Lakeline striker guide is simple to install and it comes with two extra springs for set up. This should only take about 4 minutes if you’re used to removing your striker guide. Even if installing this striker guide does not make a major difference, many people will appreciate the steel option over polymer. With that said, upgrading to Lakeline Striker Guide will make your Taurus G2c trigger smoother, better, and improve the overall feel of pulling the trigger.

What we say: If you like a straightforward Taurus G2c trigger modification. Upgrade to Lakeline Striker Guide and springs at the same time.

Pros
  • Improve the feel and crispness of the trigger
  • Plastic or polished stainless steel are available as options
  • Comes with two extra springs
  • Simple to install
Cons
  • Doesn’t make a huge difference

Wrap Up

Keep Tinkering SAO Short Stroke Trigger is my overall favorite because it improves the trigger, disables the second-strike capability, and removes the trigger safety bar.

Beyond the Taurus, the trigger and striker guide are two options for trigger upgrade. Installing one of these options on your G2c will result in significantly less take-up and almost no over-travel. The take-up appears to have some grit to it, but it’s not as bad as the stock trigger.

  1. Needing to upgrade my trigger. Really liking the SAO trigger option. But I wanted to know if combining an upgraded trigger with the stainless lakeline would be a wise choice or just a waste of money, or if it’s even doable?

  2. I have a G2c with the keeptinkering SAO standard trigger. It made a HUGE difference in the trigger pull. I also have the Lakeline stainless striker guide and the stainless spring guide and spring. They all work well together. The gun is 100% reliable. Have about 700 rounds through it with NO failures and a much improved trigger pull. I also have a G3C that I am in the process of making the same mods.
