There are a lot of reasons why someone may need to buy a pair of tactical pants: they need the camouflaged pattern for hunting, they need the extra pockets for tactical operations on the field, or maybe they need the rugged material during training on the range. Here is our review of the best tactical pants with knee pads on the market, and we’ll let you know which is our favorite at the end.
While searching online, we noticed that there is one manufacturer that seems to operate as a few sellers. We only included one of their seller’s products in this review. This way, you won’t have to do that searching online, as it’s easy to see which sellers have the same tactical pants. The comparative list we have here offers four unique features from four different brands that we feel are all worthy purchases.
Lce Gods Men Military Combat Tactical Pants
Materials – These tactical pants with built in knee pads by Lce Gods is made of a combination of polyester and cotton materials. The majority of the pant legs and the pockets are made of pretty resistant polymer, but you’ll get just enough flexibility in the waist, crotch, and knees. The knee pads are sewn in, and they’re made of a soft rubber material. They are positioned a little low on the leg, as they should be, for adjusting while the wearer is kneeling or bending. An adjustable belt is attached to the pants, which is in a camouflage pattern. There is a deep pocket on either side of the hips and an assortment of cargo pockets over the entirety of the pant legs. The cargo pockets range in size for various items and gear. The waist sizes range from thirty inches to thirty-eight inches, and the pants are available in black only.
Performance – Before we get into the pants themselves, we wanted to mention that Lce Gods is one of the sellers that seems to be a part of a group of sellers that are actually distributing from one manufacturer in China. There’s nothing wrong with this, of course, and we chose this particular option from Lce Gods for a handful of its good qualities. This option sits the lowest on the waist, compared to the other options. For a lot of shooters, this can allow for a little more flexibility and movement. This is especially important because the sizes run a little small and will feel a little tighter than the average pair of cargo pants. We personally aren’t fans of the belt because, for one, that could interfere with your performance, and, for second, it doesn’t match with the pants at all. We suggest just removing the belt.
What we say – The tactical pants are the cheapest option within this review. They’re the best choice for those who would prefer a lower sitting pair of tactical pants and are really just looking for padded pants with extra pockets.
- Low profile black
- Sits comfortable low on the waist
- Cheapest option
- Belt is distracting and in the way
TACVASEN Tactical Ripstop Combat Trousers
Materials – TACVASENS’s tactical combat pants with knee pads are made of a material similar to the previous option: a polyester and cotton combo. These pants rise a little higher on the waist, but the closure is slightly adjustable for tightness. There is no belt included with the pants, but there are belt loops available for one. Reinforced material is stitched at the knees, the back of the calves, and the back of the thighs. The uniquely designed knee pads are made of a soft rubber, with two flat surface areas on the top and bottom and a grooved, textured middle for gripping to the ground. Waist sizes are available from thirty inches to thirty eight inches, and the combat pants can be purchased in Black, ACU, CP, Desert, Jungle, and Jungle Digital.
Performance – While the feel and comfort level of these tactical pants with built in knee pads are about the same as the previous option, this one had our favorite style of knee pads. The grooves in the center of the knee pads offer more flexibility when you kneel or bend, and they’ll allow you to rock forward without slipping once you’re ready to stand up. The spaces in the pads lets little pebbles or twigs remain under you without digging into your knee caps. The waistline on this option is definitely higher than the rest, so make sure you’re paying attention to the size you purchase. There won’t be too much room for adjusting on the waist. However, the material still expands a little bit.
What we say – These are the best tactical pants for those who haven’t been happy with plain, smooth knee pads. You’ll get more grip to the ground, and you’ll be less likely to get poked in the knees.
- Multiple color choices
- Unique knee pad design
- Reinforced stitching
- Little room for waist adjustment
EMERSONGEAR Tactical Pants
Materials – The EMERSONGEAR Tactical Pants are made of durable nylon and cotton. There are ten variously sized pockets all over the pant legs, and the cargo pockets have vertical slits so they flex with your body as you bend or kneel. The knee pads on this pair of tactical pants are removable, and they feature a standard, smooth design for comfort against the ground. A breathable elastic is installed in crucial areas, including above the knees and back of the waistline. No belt is included, but the elastic closure is adjustable for tightness. Again, sizes are available from thirty inch waists to thirty-eight inch waist. This option is only available in a camouflage pattern.
Performance – Our favorite part about the tactical pants by EMERSONGEAR was the elastic bands installed at the knees and the waist. The elastic is in a tan color, which blends in nicely with the camouflage pattern. For obvious reasons, this attribute will be very helpful during tactical operations. The nylon is easy to clean and is stitched very well to avoid rips or tears. You can get a lot of good use out of these pants. It may be worth to mention that you can also purchase a matching shirt with the pants, if you’re interested. Otherwise, you can buy either the tactical pants or the shirt as individual items. What we don’t like is that this option is only available in camouflage. We were hoping for a solid color option as well.
What we say – This option is the best tactical combat pants with knee pads for those who think they’d rip a polyester and cotton blend. The nylon will see you through a little more wear and tear.
- Tough nylon material
- Elastic installed at waist and knees
- Easy to clean
- Only available in camouflage
ZAPT Tactical Pants With Knee Pads
Materials – These tactical pants with knee pads, manufactured by ZAPT, are offered in the most extensive range of colors and patterns on the market. There are sixteen available options to choose from, which include your basic solid neutrals and a variety of camouflage. The sizes available range from thirty-two inch waists to forty inch waists. Inside the front thigh pockets is a rope system, which can be used to adjust the height of the knee pads. Both the waistline and ankles can be tightened with a Velcro strap. The knee pads themselves have a smooth surface for comfortable kneeling against the ground.
Performance – If you’re looking for solid tan, gray, or digital camouflage tactical pants, then this is the option for you. This is the only option within this review that offers a variety of colors and patterns and also offers to fit up to forty inch waists (all the others only went up to thirty-eight). We personally prefer the solid tones, since it’s much more discrete for the wearer. The knee pad height adjustment feature is also very appealing. This is probably the most unisex-friendly option, thanks to that attribute. These tactical pants are a bit more expensive than the rest, so that’s the only down side we could find.
What we say – The ZAPT Tactical Pants With Knee Pads is the best choice for those who are looking for pants in another color, besides black or camouflage. This is also a great choice if you’re a shorter person.
- Variety of colors and patterns
- Adjustable knee pads
- Larger sizes available
- Most expensive
Our Favorite Tactical Pants With Knee Pads
Our favorite pair of tactical pants were the ZAPT Tactical Pants with Kneww Pads. This option was the best combination between a well performing pair of pants and a reasonable price. The polyester and cotton blend is comfortable to wear, but it will still be durable against common tactical purposes. The knee pads are really what won us over, here. Smooth knee pads will always slip or slide at some point, and the texture on these knee pads will create the right friction to avoid that slippage. The soft rubber material still makes them comfortable against your knees. Our advice for purchasing these tactical pants is to consider going up a size, unless you are certain you will fit exactly in your appropriate waist size.
