The Marlin 795 is a fantastic rifle that can be really effective in a couple areas. Particularly for mid-range shooting, it’s suggested for varmint hunting and target practice on a range. We’re also going to throw in some home defense with its abilities. We did a round-up of the best Marlin 795 accessories available online, and we’ve picked our favorite for the end.
We have two favorite features on the Marlin 795. The synthetic stock is filled with fiberglass, so it’s incredibly durable, light-weight and looks very sleek. This rifle also has a groove in the receiver for scope mounts, on the chance you’re interested in adding one. For this review, we did include a scope and a sight, but we included two other accessories that we think would really come in handy on your rifle.
Materials – This rifle sling from Allen Company is another very affordable accessory you can attach to your Marlin 795. It’s also one of the best reviewed options you’ll find online, as far as slings go. It’s highly comfortable, thanks to the stretchy neoprene shoulder pad. A tacky material is installed on the back of the sling, so it’s nonslip construction will stay in place, reducing the need for you to hold your rifle in place while moving around. The specially designed binding in the construction eliminates that extra, annoying sling bounce you’ll see in many other rifle slings. To install, simply use the mounting pieces that attach to the existing swivel points on the Marlin 795. They are not quick detach swivel attachments, but they have been tested to hold up to 300 pounds.
Performance – You would think any old sling is fine, as long as it installs easily and can be adjusted. You’ll be surprised to see how quickly you’re eating your words when you feel the nylon straps rubbing into your shoulder and your rifle swinging back and forth as soon as you pick up any kind of pace. We really like the Allen Company Neoprene Rifle Sling for it’s slightly elastic material and ability to keep your rifle stable while it hangs from your shoulder. Not a lot of slings have an actual shoulder pad, but why would we pass up the extra comfort? You can spend hours out on your property with your Marlin 795 hanging at your side without having to readjust or take it off for a bit. The one downfall is that this isn’t a quick detach sling. It’s not the end of the world, but it can become pesky.
What we say – This is one of the best Marlin 795 accessories for hunters who spend long afternoons outdoors. It’s also great for anyone who needs to travel over a long stretch of property with their trusty rifle at their side.
- Elastic neoprene absorbs shock
- Extra comfortable shoulder pad
- Sticky material stabilizes strap
- Not quick detach
- Tacky "sharkskin" material on back ensures nonslip performance
- Rugged stretch binding adds durability while reducing sling bounce
- Swivels tested up to 300 pounds
Materials – Although another scope, the Dusk & Dawn Riflescope is entirely different from the previous sight listed in this review. It is also designed with a high grade aluminum that is durable but lightweight. It has been treated to be 100% water proof and fog proof. You can even get over three inches of eye relief. To install, mount the scope to your Marlin’s existing receiver groove with a pair of scope rings. The 40mm objective lens has a magnification range of 3x-9x. The lens has multiple coatings of clarity and light transmission. There are fingertip knobs for windage and elevation adjustments, which have ¼ MOA values.
Performance – Okay, so you know you won’t get any long range hunting in, but you want something a little more advanced in a scope than a cheap 1x option. A 3x-9x scope will be your next best bet while still being affordable. You probably won’t need to go up to 9x, but the magnification is still useful, and the scope can easily be transferred to other weapons is need be! Simply invest in a pair of quick detach rings and you’re good to go. Bushnell offers a really quality scope that should last for years to come without diminishing in performance. While it fits perfectly fine, you are starting to add some extra length up top and some weight to a rifle that’s supposed to be light and simple to use. You’re not in overkill territory yet, but just remember this isn’t a tactical setup!
What we say – This is one of the best Marlin 795 accessories for those who just aren’t satisfied with a 1x sight. If you need the technology, and you want an accessory that can stand up to some weather conditions, this is what you should consider.
- 3x-9x magnification
- Water proof and fog proof
- Can be used on multiple rifles
- May get a little top heavy
- Quality optics with stunning HD clarity
- 100 percentage quality materials used and tested extensively
- Beautiful design and durability built to last
Materials – If you want to upgrade your Marlin 795, you can install this pair of front and rear sights that have been designed to increase the shooter’s sight radius up to six inches. The rear sight features a small round aperture to align your eyesight and block out distracting peripheral light. The front sight features a wide set of wings to replace the original iron sight. On the rear sight, you can adjust the aperture’s windage and elevation. To install, you can easily attach both sights to your Marlin 795 without drilling or tapping. Anybody can do it at home.
Performance – Now we’re talking! You may not need a scope for magnification, but you probably still want to enhance your target acquisition. Not only are you increasing your range of view, but that rear aperture will really increase your eye focus. Even for varmint hunting, you’ll notice you can line up your vision much more quickly with some practice. For obvious reasons, this will improve any home defense as well. Again, this is an accessory that could make a life saving combo with an offset flashlight.
What we say – This is one of the best Marlin 795 upgrades for those who don’t want the weight of a scope or feel they don’t need one. Hunters and home defenders alike should see a lot of benefit from this upgrade.
- Rear aperture helps eye focus
- Front sight widens sight radius
- Adjustable for windage and elevation
- Not for use with a sight
- GI type sights for your THE MARLIN 60, 795, 70P and 70PSS Rifles
- the TSM200 allows for elevation & Windage adjustment at the rear sight.
- Includes front and rear sight. Increases sight radius by 6"
Materials – Trijicon’s 1x sight is unlike any other. You’re far from cheap on this option, but you’re getting one of the clearest pictures possible out of a compact sight such as this. The 7075-T6 aircraft grade aluminum body diverts the force from firing your Marlin away from the fragile lens for a durable construction. The lens has an amber tint, and it’s multicoated for some of the best light transmission money can buy. Featured is the red 3.25 MOA dot reticle with eight brightness settings, two of those being night vision. You can order this sight in black, flat dark earth, or olive drab green. You can also order it with or without the mount (there are also Weaver mounting options, for those who are interested).
Performance – You’re likely using your Marlin 795 for some home defense and possible a little hunting. If you use it for hunting, you know perfectly well this rifle likely isn’t the best choice for big game, but it’s great for varmint and targets you can take down at a closer range. A 1x sight is the perfect enhancement you can make, and Trijicon makes one of the most high-end options. It’s the most expensive accessory option within this review. Yeah, it will be an investment to make, but the amount of use you can get out of it is unquestionable. With night vision included in the brightness settings, it certainly won’t be the sight that’s holding you back from hitting your target. For home defense, attaching an offset flashlight alongside this sight can make a lifesaving duo.
What we say – This is one of the best Marlin 795 accessories for small game hunters and home defenders with a generous budget. You can improve your accuracy and increase the times of day you can use your rifle.
- Amber tinted lens
- Eight brightness settings with night vision
- Available with or without mount
- Most expensive option
Our Favorite Marlin 795 Accessory
Hands down, our favorite Marlin 795 accessory was the second to last option: The Tech Sight Adjustable Aperture Sight. Not everyone wants a scope for this rifle, so this is the next best thing to improve your accuracy and speed. Whether you’re outdoors and taking down some critters or you’re keeping unwanted invaders off your property, this front and rear sight duo will give you the advantage. Despite being a little more expensive than most accessories, these sights are still pretty budget friendly. You’re adding minimal extra weight, and you don’t even need a professional to install this upgrade!
