The Molot VEPR 12 is a highly underrated Russian firearm that not many have heard of. This semi-automatic shotgun shares a lot of similarities with AK style weapons, but it can be difficult to shop for products that will fit with it. We’ve put together this review of the best VEPR 12 accessories, so you don’t have to play guessing games when you click the “buy” button.
A lot of accessories you can buy online come with the option to select your weapon for the correct size. You’ll notice you hardly ever, if at all, see “Molot VEPR” as a choice. We sifted through loads of online products to find accessories that not only accommodate the VEPR 12, but they’ll also enhance your shotgun as well as your personal accuracy.
Orion H40-W 500 Lumen LED Tactical Flashlight
Materials — The Orion H40-W 500 Lumen LED Tactical Flashlight is one of the brightest tactical flashlights on the market — perfect for illuminating your way during hunting or blinding predators. It weighs less than four ounces, and it’s only about five inches in length. The 500 lumen output operates on a pair of CR123A batteries, which are included in the purchase. A pressure switch can be used for a pulsing light beam or a constant on setting. Also included is a Picatinny mount and rings, so everything you need is in one package. This tactical flashlight is resistant to water and recoil, and every Orion flashlight comes with a one year warranty to replace damaged or defective parts.
Performance — We’ve written review in the past for some of the best tactical flashlights, and the Orion H40-W 500 Lumen LED Tactical Flashlight has always been one of our favorites. Possibly the most essential accessory for a semi-auto shotgun, this product is one of the cheapest and most lifesaving investments you could make for your firearm setup. We love that this flashlight comes with a mount and rings; so, as long as you have a rail installed, you’re ready to go. Plus, this flashlight is long lasting and powerful. We’re not huge fans of the style of pressure switch that it comes with, and we’ve definitely seen tactical lights that offer a lot more than two light modes, but this is a very effective accessory for hunting or basic home defense. We can’t see many gunowners needing more than this.
What we say — The Orion H40-W 500 Lumen LED Tactical Flashlight is the best option for someone in search of an affordable addition to their Molot VEPR 12 shotgun. You really can’t go wrong with a tactical light, whether it’s to compliment your optic’s illumination or to survey your surroundings.
- Affordable addition
- Includes mount and rings
- Long lasting and powerful LED light
- Pressure switch not most convenient, only two modes

Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight Riflescope
Materials — The Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight Riflescope is an affordable optic with high quality performance. This compact sight has a 25mm objective lens, with a 1x magnification, and unlimited eye relief — perfect for short range hunting with your Molot VEPR 12. The 3 MOA red dot reticle is one of the best for utilizing with both eyes open, so you’ll never miss your opportunity for the perfect shot. The front lens is tilted slightly for the reticle, and it is tinted in an amber color for the most effective contrast in different levels of light — most ideally in wooded areas during daylight. The construction is entirely waterproof, shockproof, and fogproof.
Performance — While we’re on the topic of affordability, the Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight is one of the few optics in the lower price range that works as it should. Of course, there are some compromises you have to make if you don’t want to shell out $400 for a high-end sight. The main thing some gunowners won’t like is that the LED light is secured inside the scope with a small bit of adhesive, and it does slightly obstruct the view. The obstruction is incredibly minimal, but some buyers have had their Bushnell optic replaced because there was too much adhesive in the way. However, if you can get past that issue, every aspect of this product is perfect for your VEPR 12. The compact size, the amber lens, and the MOA dot reticle are all features that will enhance your shooting ability.
What we say — The Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight is the best VEPR 12 accessory for anyone who is on a budget but likes to use their semiauto for hunting. That amber lens will see you through an afternoon of trekking through the woods.
- Compact size with unlimited eye relief
- Amber lens
- Adhesive minimally obstructs view
Midwest Industries AK Railed Scope Mount
Materials — The Midwest Industries AK Railed Scope Mount is an entirely USA made piece constructed of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum in a hard, anodized finish. The mil-spec rails are T-marked with about 15 slots for any accessory you can think to attach to your Molot VEPR 12 shotgun. The picatinny rail is about six and a half inches long, and the height is perfect for compact scopes and other optics. Avoid ring mounts that add too much height, and you’ll have the perfect VEPR setup. Installation is very easy, which includes the American Defense Throw Lever. This lever eliminates the need for extra tooling or adjusting.
Performance — If you’re installing a handful of accessories to your VEPR 12, you’ll need a proper rail to hold them all! The Midwest Industries AK Railed Scope Mount is just what you need, and multiple previous buyers have verified that this product fits perfectly on their Molot VEPR (the 12 gauge and then some)! The American Defense Throw Lever makes installation a breeze, as well as a quick detach accessory. There’s more than enough room on this rail for an optic, a flashlight, and whatever else you can think of adding on there. The material used for the rail could be a stronger aluminum, or even steel, but any accessory being added to your VEPR 12 should be pretty lightweight and not cause any problems.
What we say — The Midwest Industries AK Railed Scope Mount is the best accessory for, well, just about anybody. This is a crucial item needed for your firearm, and this AK rail is one of our favorites.
- Over six inches of room for accessories
- American Defense Throw Lever for easy installation
- Fits VEPR 12 shotguns perfectly
- Could have stronger construction, only best for lightweight accessories
Materials — The EOTech XPS2-0 optic is one of the best compact, holographic weapon sights available. At only two inches across and two and a half inches tall, this little guy adds minimal weight and offers load of eye relief on your semiauto shotgun. The red dot reticle focuses on a 1x magnification. The laser lights used to illuminate the reticle means you can use this optic during virtually any time of day with no glare or blurry picture. There are very simple to use adjustment knobs for windage and elevation, which are utilized by a coin slot. A single 123 lithium battery is all that is needed to power this compact beauty.
Performance — Everybody knows EOTech. Sure, their optics are not cheap, but we’re talking about top of the line innovation and performance. If you have the cash to spare, you should definitely invest in the EOTech XPS2-0 for your Molot VEPR 12. There are the obvious benefits, such as eye relief and light weight, but the laser illuminated dot reticle is one of the most advanced features you can get on any optic. Other than that, the adjustment knobs are easy to use without having to divert your eye focus, and the picture is crystal clear. There really isn’t anything to complain about on this one.
What we say — The EOTech XPS2-0 optic is the best purchase to make for anyone who uses their VEPR 12 for more than some general hunting. Day, night, hunting, tactical, defensive, and more, this option is usable for any scenario.
- Laser illuminated reticle
- Red dot reticle
- Easy to use adjustment knobs
- Very expensive
Our Favorite VEPR 12 Accessory
Our favorite VEPR 12 accessory has to be the first product mentioned in this review: the Orion Tactical Flashlight. If you’re wondering why we chose the flashlight over sights and necessary rail mounts, let us explain why. For one, the Orion flashlight is the most affordable choice, and we can’t see much reason to not make that investment. We decided against the AK rail because we assume most readers agree it’s just common knowledge to have a mount on their semiauto firearm. We also decided against both of the optics in this review because, even though they both have fantastic performance, the flashlight provides more value. If you have the budget, why not go for both?
