The Sniper Country Duty Roster Rules of Engagement

The duty roster is an open forum for the art and science of military, police, and civilian long range shooting.  Before you post your comments, or questions, here are some guidelines.

1 - Try to avoid basic questions, like which is better Winchester, or Remington... or 'how to clean your new rifle?  This is an advanced site, for skilled shooters, or those who want to become skilled shooters.  If you are a beginner, read, learn, and listen.  Read the Hot Tips and Cold Shots section, read the Duty Roster Archives - that's what it is there for.  If you don't want to learn you should not be here.

2 - DON'T give technical advice, or instructions, about tools that you don't own, or haven't used... reading a catalogue doesn't make you knowledgeable, or an expert.  You just might be ruining somebody else's day.  If you merely read it somewhere, say so.

3 - Don't give your theories and opinions... AS FACTS!  Post them as your theories and opinions, or you may learn the real meaning of humility, quickly.  There are many posters on the Roster, that work in the field, as manufactures, military or police instructors, or researchers in the field... but don't say "their job"... so that guy named "Little Freddy", that you're about to slam, may be the guy that invented it, or teaches it 40 hours a week.!!!

4 - You may disagree with others... post those disagreements with facts in a debate format, but don't get ugly, or personal, and resort to name calling... there may be only 20 or 30 regular posters at any given time, but REMEMBER that there are some 2000 people that check into this site every day, and just read.  Many of these folks are just shooters, but there are many that work for manufactures (including Leupold, Winchester, and Remington)... and also remember that there are readers from the anti-gun side, so keep your language clean...

Play nice, and act like a grown-up in your disagreements.
